His starting point was the British groups of the sixties and seventies, and he began to investigate with his brothers, from north to south and chronologically, from Chicago to the Mississippi, all the way back to the African roots: “I took a trip to Mali and had to stop, because, as a friend of mine warned me, I would have ended up listening to someone beating a stone with a stick.” He arrived in Barcelona in 2008 in search of the rock’n’roll scene, but found a great many blues jam sessions that connected with the music he liked, and he plunged into the milieu, forming bands of volatile fortune which he sums up with humour: “The pattern is always the same: I found them and then they throw me out.” In 2013 he put together Las Balas Perdidas, with an underground edge, a personal style, his own songs and a repertoire that makes the journey from rock’n’roll to blues, a genre he got hooked on for its apparent simplicity, its syncopated rhythm and its ability to convey emotion with very few elements, and which, besides bringing him good friends, feeds his creative capacity: “Since I cannot separate the work from the artist, it has given me a philosophy of life and a great deal of help in moments of adversity.”
