Elegance is the word par excellence that defines one of the finest blues musicians that the Catalan and Spanish scene has produced. Elegance in his attitude, in his way of speaking, of listening, of smiling… and of playing the blues. He began very young with his friend José María Merchan and he was one of the pioneers who in the early eighties gathered at La Cova del Drac to cement the foundations of the blues in Barcelona, until he became one of its cornerstones. In his guitar, which accompanied him through the formation of the city’s most mythical bands, feeling and refined technique met. He was an absolute lover of North American roots music, and he shared his passion and a deep knowledge of the genre in talks and shows for children. Cultured, restless, affable and committed, in his final period he maintained a fruitful and campaigning collaboration with another genius abducted by the blues, the irreverent Quico Pi de la Serra. His death stained Barcelona blues with grief and a sense of orphanhood, at Christmas 2020. He described himself as “a guitarist who has been made little by little, trying to keep a line honest to his principles”.
