Artem Zhulyev

This saxophone wizard came from the east, felt attracted by African-American music from the outset and, at only eighteen, won first prize as a jazz arranger at the School of Music of Zaporojye, in his native Ukraine. He studied trumpet, guitar, piano and saxophone, an instrument of which he became a teacher and a virtuoso performer. For ten years he settled in Moscow, where he set up the first blues band, Mishuris Blues Band, as well as accompanying great international jazz and rock stars on tour in Russia. In 2010, the winds of his saxophone carried him to Barcelona, where he was quickly integrated into the local scene, as an instrumentalist and as a composer and arranger for some of the most important bands in the city. His solid professional training, his musical talent and his affable nature have made him a familiar figure on Barcelona’s stages, always giving the best of himself, conceiving music as a gift to be shared and to make this world a little more habitable.
