His passion for making wind music was unleashed when he was barely a few spans off the ground and he began to play the xeremia. In the early nineties he discovered the saxophone, which he describes as “the best instrument in the world”, and began to study it at the Liceu conservatoire. In the middle of the decade he joined The Big Jamboree and was caught by the blues. “It captivated me because it is a very visceral music, full of real and immediate emotions. Its strength and its simplicity convinced me to play it. It allows me to be authentic, to tell stories and emotions in a very direct way.” His joining Los Rebeldes in the early 2000s opened a new professional chapter that lasted sixteen years and placed him among the finest and most spectacular saxophonists in the country. In 2009 he set out on his own path, became one of the reference points of Barcelona’s blues and embarked on a career that has led him to collaborate with leading national and international figures, across a wide range of styles, always clinging to the roots: “What grabs me most about the blues is that there are no barriers. You can be completely free on stage, feel it and express what you carry inside, without filters.”
