In his native Ireland he grew up surrounded by music: “At home the radio was always on and my mother was always singing. A lot of old rock’n’roll, jazz, standards, et cetera”, and he discovered the blues by following the thread of British blues rock, which took him to pioneers of the genre such as Leadbelly, Willie Dixon or Jesse Fuller, who accompanied him in his learning of the guitar. Nowadays he continues learning, experimenting: “The blues is very emotional, technically deceptively easy, but very interesting to play and to listen to, and it brings infinite discoveries”. In 2002 he arrived in Barcelona with the intention of making a living from music, which he achieved with success but also with effort: “It has been a process of never giving up, but I have always felt very comfortable here. Barcelona is my home”. Three years after arriving he had already become a professional and a regular on the local scene, always showing a great mastery of the genre and an open mind: “I think music is a river of things, it isn’t one genre or another.” Genre is a matter of marketing. “It depends on where you swim in the river”.
