Carla Sunday & the Blue Birds · The Heeks

She is one of the most relevant and promising figures of the generation of the newest arrivals on the local scene in the second decade of the century, after passing through the Escola de Blues de Barcelona. The moment of her much-talked-about introduction to the world of the blues came in July 2012, during the SBB’s eighth anniversary party, when she surprised and delighted Bob Margolin with her way of singing. Her exceptional voice has travelled the local stages, without fanfare, but little by little cementing a professional career, especially from 2017 onwards, as the fruit of a natural process: “I kept coming across it. As I went on playing, I ended up making a profession of it.” She confesses that the blues has allowed her to connect with her own emotions and to share that connection with others through music. After several years in different projects, she has found the ideal line-up alongside her brother, the pianist Arnau Demons, and the drummer Héctor Infieles, where she has been able to release her artistic potential and perform a genre in which she feels emotionally at ease: “It is an authentic way of expressing my emotions.”
