This master of slide guitar, like so many musicians of his generation, travelled the reverse path from original rock’n’roll and the English blues rock of the sixties, in order to arrive at the essence of African-American music. At sixteen, very late by today’s standards, as he himself says, he began to play the guitar, dissecting the Rolling Stones’ Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out, Dr. Feelgood’s Stupidity and even Tequila’s Matrícula de honor. He began performing professionally with Brighton 64, the reference band of the mod movement in our country. In the early days he was part of the legendary Harmònica Zúmel Blues Band, which places him among the pioneers of a genre in which he admires, above all, “the feeling and the improvisation that mean the same song never sounds the same”, and which has allowed him to work shoulder to shoulder with blues legends, to play with legends such as Memphis Slim, Champion Jack Dupree, Billy Branch or John Primer, or to meet in person the great blues stars of all time, such as B.B. King, Albert King, Clarence Gatemouth Brown or Johnny Copeland.
