Carrie spent her adolescence surrounded by the explosion of grunge in the hometown of Courtney Love, but she preferred to sing swing, jazz or musicals by Cole Porter, even though the blues struck her as somewhat old-fashioned and decadent. She arrived in Barcelona in 2001, “Alone, in search of art and music”. And she found them, first singing on the street with jazz groups, and later in clubs and venues with the successive projects she went on to put together, always surrounding herself with the best musicians “to put a frame of talent around what I could conjure up”, as she herself puts it. And it was in the Catalan capital that she found the blues, in a dance class with Ferran Puig where her feet led her along the path of the devil’s music: “The blues entered my body, into my veins, and taught me a way of digging and releasing emotions, of drawing closer to myself and sharing what I had discovered. And suddenly my voice wanted to express what I was feeling too.” An artist with a strong spiritual side and a versatile professional, she knows that her best weapon is feeling: “I don’t think I’m a great singer, but I love the exorcism of being able to communicate feeling, empathise and play with the audience.”
