Carlos Shelly’s R&B Band · Los Vándalos · Poyo Moya Trio · Tota Blues Band
Music runs in his family’s DNA, and he stumbled upon the blues in his native Argentina in 1994, when he became the pianist of Los Vándalos, a blues and rock’n’roll group. An indefatigable worker, a perfectionist musician and a pianist versed in several styles, he moves with absolute ease across the most varied stages and the most diverse genres, from swing to tango, taking in ragtime, boogie woogie and early jazz, never losing sight of any of the blues styles, a genre he defines as the soul of music. He put this effective musical versatility to the test and perfected it during the seasons he worked as a cruise-ship pianist, which, as everyone knows, if it does not kill you, makes you stronger. It was at the end of one of those cruises that he landed in the Barcelona blues scene. It was 2005, and since then he has become one of the most outstanding pianists on the local and national scene. He finished falling for the music of African-American roots listening to musicians such as B.B. King, Albert King, Jerry Lee Lewis and Albert Collins during the visits they made to perform in his native country.
