Daniel Higiénico

Irreverent, politically incorrect, ingenious and unclassifiable, he wields the blunt tool of sincerity to make things clear from the outset: “I’m not a blues musician, I don’t have a specific musical style, but on all my albums there is some song of the genre.” Although he was born in Barcelona, he spent part of his life in Ciutat de Mallorca, in whose bars he began to become accustomed, at the start of the nineties, to being a multifaceted singer-songwriter who uses the tools of the theatre to tell his stories wrapped in sarcastic humour. In 2001 he returned to Barcelona and joined the underground scene, always marking out his own particular musical territory, but with one foot in the blues, or both, as when he recorded Daniel Higiénico Blues Experience in 2017, an album devoted entirely to a genre for which he has always felt admiration: “I have always been fascinated by everything you can do with a blues chord progression. It is like ploughing through infinity.” As he himself admits, perhaps he is not a blues musician, but he has all the attitude.
