He had the good fortune to be born in a house where music of every kind was played, from big bands to blues, by way of rock’n’roll, tango and folklore, so the ground was already prepared when he began listening to the programme Blues Special, by Adrián Flores, who also ran a club attended by Chicago bluesmen. There, Fer began cutting his teeth at the age of eighteen and had the chance to play with figures such as John Primer, Lorenzo Thompson or Lurrie Bell, which made him fall in love with the blues of the Windy City. In 2002, at the age of twenty-two, he arrived in Barcelona, where he has now spent half his life, in time to collaborate with historic figures such as Amadeu Casas or Steve De Swardt, cleanly integrated into the local blues scene, a music whose authenticity, freshness, power and cadence he admires; a genre that gave him a solid foundation he found neither studying jazz at institutions nor in books: “It is the base of everything that came afterwards, it is folklore, it is roots music, and therefore its essence is right here, you need not dig deep to find it”.
