La Vella Dixieland · Big Mama & the Blues Messengers · Amadeu Casas Blues a Go Go · The Minimum Trio · Francesc Capella Trio I Quintet

He came to the blues through traditional jazz and at the hands of pioneering artists such as Amadeu Casas or Big Mama, in the days when the genre was beginning to take off in the Catalan capital. He began his professional career in 1982, playing on every kind of stage, from restaurants to theatres. In his splendid CV, particular note should be taken of his work as an arranger for Tete Montoliu and his collaboration with La Vella Dixieland. He has taken part in jazz and African American music festivals all over the world, from New Orleans to Japan, and has accompanied great stars from the most diverse styles, such as Scott Hamilton, Johnny Griffin, Maria del Mar Bonet, Laura Simó, Jordi Sabater or Quico Pi de la Serra. He has passed on his musical passion to the students of the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya and the Escola de Música de Badalona, in the most varied styles of African American music, always without losing sight of the roots: “The blues is a music that can only be played from the most absolute honesty”.
