This brilliant guitarist’s relationship with the blues is a matter of paternal inheritance: as a child he would listen in his father’s car to the music of legends of the genre such as Elmore James, B.B. King, Johnny Winter or Skip James. All these songs settled into his fingers an energy and a feeling that began to flow as he played rock and the rest of African-American roots music. In 2004 he met Jonathan Herrero, with whom he founded A Contra Blues, a group that, after the usual and inevitable street beginnings, won the SBB competition in 2009 and, five years later, the European Blues Challenge. With the band consolidated, he has diversified his projects, collaborating with a good part of the best bands in the city and in the rest of the country, to which he brings his personal style, both musical and on stage and in his appearance, always rising above reductive labels, but never renouncing what he listened to as a boy, a music for which he does not wish to seek, or find, explanations: “All I can say is that whenever I listen to it, it moves me”.
