Joan Ventosa
Chicago Blues Tribute · Honky Two · Hobo’s Blues · Silver Bluesers
The prime mover par excellence of the Barcelona blues parish, this piano enthusiast is one of the main agitators of Spanish blues, both from the perspective of organising festivals and concerts and as a creator of cultural networks, associations, festivals, outreach media and initiatives of every kind. Over the years, especially after the revitalisation of Barcelona blues at the beginning of the twenty-first century, if you turned round at a concert and looked towards the back of the room, the most normal thing was to find his figure there, closely scrutinising what was happening on stage. A lover of the background and with a tendency to grumble, his figure is linked to many of the historic events of the blues, especially in the seventies and eighties in the cities of L’Hospitalet and Barcelona, his natural territories. He is both culprit and accomplice in the existence of projects such as the Societat de Blues de Barcelona, Bad Music Blues or the Cicle de Blues & Boogie de L’Hospitalet. His piano has been heard at jams and in the venues for decades now, with an elegance and a discretion that he only abandons when he is transformed into Doctor Ventuà… but that is another story.
