This all-terrain guitarist, able to move with identical ease through electric blues and the guitar-led blues of Vaughan or Winter, the Piedmont style, West Coast or the primitive folk blues of the Delta, began to play when he was no more than a teenager called Johnny Pedraza Pérez, and he is part of the Barcelona blues brood of the mid-nineties, when he started performing with a trio that played numbers by Hendrix, Creedence or Stevie Ray Vaughan. He came to the blues by the reverse route from rock’n’roll and decided to play it for the strength and the feeling it has, he himself confesses. Since then he has consolidated his position as one of the pillars of the local and national scene, with a style that follows the most traditional canons, always bringing his own personality and a very forceful live presence, both in electric line-ups and in the more acoustic ones, especially in the duo project with his partner, the harmonica player Sweet Marta. After three decades on stage, he continues in permanent evolution: “What seduces me about the blues is that it has no end; there is always something to learn within all the styles of blues that exist”.
