If such a label existed (and perhaps it does), he could be described as a minimalist virtuoso of the guitar. For twenty years he accompanied the harmonica and the voice of Txus Blues, achieving with just a few chords what others fail to achieve with fanfare and flourishes: that the thing should have feeling and that the song should sound as it ought to sound, with soul and a capacity to communicate. It is this ability to find what is substantial that seduces him most about the blues: “Its language, which allows you to express yourself even in songs with apparently simple harmonies.” Retracing the path that leads from Hendrix, Led Zeppelin or Cream back to the pioneers of the genre, he cut his teeth with the historic bands of Barcelona blues, until with the arrival of the new century he embarked with Txus Blues on one of the most imaginative, entertaining and even delirious adventures in Spanish blues. The thing lasted twenty years and left an indelible mark on practically every venue and festival in the country, through which they carried a clever and well-crafted repertoire in Spanish. Now he has dusted off the electric guitar and is aiming at new horizons with his impeccable and heartfelt way of playing African-American music.
