Double Bass

Gatos Locos · Doctor Swinguez · Jazz Cuarteto De Mano Rena · Lluís Coloma Trio

Beginning with rockabilly militancy, it is only logical that he should have arrived at the blues by the natural umbilical cord: “What seduces me about the blues is that it is the mother of modern music, everything comes from here, from this root.” A forceful and vertiginous double bassist, he has a wide range that allows him to move with mastery through boogie woogie, rhythm&blues, jazz or country. Without rival in the category of friendliest musician in the blues of this country, he speaks with a sense of humour even of his musical beginnings: “I started playing in 1995, after swapping a pair of walking boots for an electric bass.” Two years later he became a double bass player and in 2006 a double bass luthier, although in fact he had been working with wood since he was fourteen, something that has given him an intimate relationship with an instrument that has allowed him to travel all over the world, performing on every kind of stage, almost always as rhythmic accompaniment to the pianist Lluís Coloma, and he declares, brimming over, that the best thing the blues has given him has been playing with great friends and “sharing music and experiences with beautiful people”.
