Marc Ruiz

His brother and an album by the Blues Brothers that he brought home were to blame for it all. Through the film’s soundtrack he discovered the greatest names in blues and soul and began to plunge into those genres with total passion: “Blues, soul and funk are hot music that goes straight to your heart.” A virtuoso drummer with a wide range that has allowed him to play with the great figures of the various styles of African-American music, he is also an absolutely reliable pianist. He began performing professionally in 1995 at the hands of Alex “A” & TNT and Lluís Coloma, in the legendary days of La Boîte, and since then he has travelled a long road that, through dedication, knowledge, talent and personal affability, has turned him into a reference figure on the Barcelona scene. With a quarter of a century of musical career behind him, he is very clear about what his relationship with the blues has given him: “Living, or surviving, on what I love most”.
