Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Mahalia Jackson and Aretha Franklin were the first culprits in her falling in love with African-American music, from spirituals to blues, passing through jazz, soul and pop. She formed her first band with friends from secondary school at the age of eighteen and spent four years rehearsing and learning, until the definitive opportunity came her way from the historic jazz pianist Lucky Guri, whom she met at a concert where she got up to sing as a spontaneous performer. Since then she has been an established figure in our city. Her voice and her eternal smile have travelled across every kind of stage, where she has shared her talent with artists of styles as diverse as Fundación Tony Manero, Ojos de Brujo, Mujeres and Jazz Pretenders, always seduced by the strength and the truth of the blues: “The blues is like a therapy that helps you to express your emotions and that at the same time gives you strength while you have a good time. It is magic to share all that with your bandmates on stage and with the audience”.
