His restlessness in exploring new and diverse cultural and musical territories eventually led him to the roots of African-American music: “That is how I found the blues, which, coming from jazz, was waiting for me on a street corner to make friends”, he explains himself. He has played the bass since the age of twenty, and it was the historic guitarist Amadeu Casas who gave him his first opportunities as a professional musician, almost a couple of decades ago. A great connoisseur of the genre and a lover of a wide-spectrum blues, from Robert Johnson and Freddie King to Keb Mo or John Mayer, over the last few decades he has accompanied the very best of the genre in Barcelona, the city where he has made a place for himself and surrounded himself with the best thing, by his own admission, that music has given him: his friends. On the style he one day decided to play, he confesses that he likes absolutely all of it, especially its capacity to transmit energy, feelings and ideas: “The predictable and at the same time hypnotic rhythm and harmony, which catch you in a mantra, and on the other hand, the melodic and poetic language that extends, practically, through all of today’s popular music”.
