In his case the culprit was “The Jack”, the song by the rock group AC/DC that he heard at the age of twelve at a friend’s house and which ended up leading him to the blues through the guitar of Angus Young: “That got right inside me. From that moment on I felt the need to play the guitar.” And he began to do so in a fully professional way in the early 2000s, when he joined Zoologic Band, the group of the historic pianist and composer Lluís Vidal. His instrumental skill has led him to take part in line-ups of different styles, from blues to soul, by way of funk and jazz. He also has long experience as a teacher, and admits to being captivated by the sensuality, the elegance and the feeling of music of African-American roots. “The blues is present in everything I do. Whatever genre I want to play, it always ends up appearing; it is always there.” In the blues he has found a language, a form of expression, an atmosphere… and always with a highly personal view of the fourth art: “I understand music in general, and the guitar in particular, as an indispensable refuge in an over-competitive world.”
