Pol Prats

At the age of eight he began blowing and studying the saxophone, and at sixteen he turned professional with his first band, Ivanow Jazz Group, which was, in his own words: “The testing ground and the laboratory for devoting myself to this”. And he has devoted himself to it for more than two decades, during which he has carried his mastery and musical elegance across every kind of stage, from the street to national and international festivals, and has become an essential figure on the Barcelona scene. A tireless professional, music is his way of life and of relating to others, and his command of a wide range of styles such as swing and traditional jazz, neo-swing, jump blues and rhythm&blues has allowed him to collaborate with the leading figures of African-American music in our country. This artist, of affable manner and lively wit, declares himself seduced by the essence of the blues: “Rhythm, melody, harmony in the service of the soul. Or is it the other way round?”
