Queralt Albinyana
A singer and actress with a great deal of stage experience, as well as an excellent storyteller, she uses botanical poetry to explain her path into the blues: “It germinated in me like a weed at the edge of a much-travelled path. That is where the need was born to sing with force, as if there were no other option, with no time for reflection and no reason”. For some years she was a “privileged and fearful observer”, as she herself puts it, until in 2011 she decided to bang her fist on the table and recorded her first album, When I met the Blues, which was the starting gun for a race in which she has always been accompanied by Flavio Rigatozzo, Tota. A long-established professional in the most diverse disciplines, including those of repertoire singer and musicals, she confesses that the blues catches her, questions her and provokes her. She openly displays her commitment to the female point of view in the blues and her fondness for the artists who express themselves freely: unclassifiable, authentic, with a profound commitment to emotion. And she believes deeply in the power of music: “I think it makes people better, it draws them away from reproaches and worries, it connects them with the present, it awakens empathy and it creates community”.
