Although he belongs to the latest batch of young people to arrive at the blues in Barcelona, travelling back in time from the heavy metal that still excites him, he has submerged himself in the most roots spirit of the blues, in its deepest and most rural side, thanks to friends who emerged from around the Escola de Blues de Barcelona, such as Hèctor Martos and Oriol Fontanals, who also introduced him to a traditional instrument, the washboard, with which he has revealed himself as a consummate performer. His immersion in the roots of the genre has made him feel especially at ease on the stage of his musical ancestors, the street, from which he has projected himself into the city’s clubs. His admiration for masters such as Washboard Sam and bluesmen such as Blind Willie McTell, Bo Carter, Big Bill Broonzy or Blind Blake does not prevent him from being an intelligent product of his time and from tracking the blues in funk, rock or hip-hop, a style in which he also took his first steps as a drummer. Seduced by its reason for being and by what gave rise to it, what attracts him about the blues is its strength as a vehicle of expression for oppressed people “who often led lives that make your hair stand on end”.
