Sergio Giunta

This artist with a biography too vast to recount (he has been part of more than eighty bands in thirty years of professional life) absorbed the blues in an almost literal way: “I grew up listening to it in my mother’s voice, who taught me through every chord how this genre carried both life and death in its notes”. He arrived in Barcelona at the age of thirteen, leaving behind the long shadow of the dictatorship, began his professional career at seventeen and fell in love with the blues for its emotional force: “I always dreamed of being a bluesman, as if those old recordings my parents kept in the living room were my destiny”. Beyond a language for expressing emotions, the blues has given him an intimate refuge and a connection with the soul of a community: “Every time I step onto the stage, I feel that I belong to something greater, that I am honouring those who came before me and who shared their truths through music”.
