“A kind of crossroads where many musical discourses converge that are truly exciting.” That is how this accomplished guitarist defines the way of seeing music that the blues has given him, a genre he came to by following the usual reverse path of diving into the roots of rock, and which hooked him for good: “When you believe you have found the seed from which a great part of popular music was built, you feel a kind of addiction to playing it.” This does not prevent him, however, from moving through other genres such as rock or folk, always reinterpreting North American roots music. He began performing professionally at the end of the last century, usually in duo or trio line-ups, in different styles, but never forgetting the music that for him constitutes the essence, the sediment: “A kind of primordial musical mud that springs from popular tradition and serves as the foundation for many other musics. When you play jazz, soul, rock… at some point the blues appears”.
