Tota Blues
Buenos Aires (Argentina), 1974
Searching beyond the family tango, he fell into rock’s spider web until destiny placed a Muddy Waters record in his path and his life left the lane of electronic engineering for that of music and the night: “I went mad, and when I heard Little Walter’s harmonica I knew that this was exactly what I had been looking for for many years”. He put together his first and only band alongside his inseparable Martín J. Merino, with whom he made the leap to Barcelona, and in the city’s streets he forged himself until he became a regular figure on its stages, with his harmonica, his wry smile and his ironic, amusing blues in Spanish. In love with Chicago blues, being able to play with some of the legends he had listened to in the early days has been one of the dreams come true of a musician who has never been willing to give up: “The best thing the blues has given me has been, and still is, the fact of always chasing a dream. I can’t keep still. And so, all of a sudden, you cross the ocean, you live in and get to know other countries, other customs, other people. And there are always more things to do and to discover”. What they say and how they say it: that is what captivates the man who did everything for the blues.
