As the nineties were dawning, amid the media noise of the advent of the Barcelona Olympics, a young woman with a sensual and elegant voice was trying to carve out a place for herself on the city’s jazz and blues scene. She succeeded fully in 1993, when she met the pianist August Tharrats, with whom she has continued working ever since. Music of African-American roots had taken possession of her heart through the cinema, and by the age of twenty-two she had already become a professional singer. An absolute point of reference for jazz in the region, she has formed an intimate and fundamental part of the blues scene, collaborating with founding names such as Amadeu Casas or the Blues Messengers. A composer and producer with two albums to her name, her vocal register and her deep knowledge of music have allowed her to travel through a wide range of genres, from the pop of her first group, Dressed in Blue, and her collaborations with La Unión, Amaya Montero or Los Sencillos, to musicals and work in advertising, radio and television. The blues, in her own words, is: “A school. Clear structures in which to draw melodies and stories that reach the heart. A way of life.”
