Sala Monasterio

At Passeig d’Isabel II, number 4, right next to the legendary Set Portes restaurant and in the very heart of tourist Barcelona, in a basement that had formerly been a flamenco tablao, from 2007 onwards the relaunch of the blues in the city was cooked up. The Thursday jam sessions, organised by a fledgling Societat de Blues de Barcelona, brought together all the musicians and enthusiasts of the city, and friendships were forged in front of its bar, bands were born and, in the shadow of the pioneers, many young talents were tempered who would become important figures in the first two decades of the twenty-first century. The venue also hosted several editions of the SBB Blues Contest and anniversary parties of that association. Blues activity began to decline in 2013, after the venue moved its location to the Port Olímpic.
